I work for Openreach on FND - fibre network delivery. But I mainly work on Ethernet which is for business. I would start at 6.30am in the morning go the exchange which is listed on the job, complete the jumpers then travel to the node to splice the fibres through then make my way to the customer to complete any internal or external work.
I learn something new everyday on this job
The team that I work with is the best that I could as for, my boss is fantastic also makes sure I'm good.
Sometimes I feel there should be a lot more recognition for something's you do.
Terrible, I feel the apprenticeship program is a farce. We learn nothing about are day to day role, its all based around service delivery which is not my role. I feel my mentor is under a lot of pressure from his bosses also he has a lot of students to look after. The NVQ work is not relatable to anything we do, something really needs to improve.
he does his best
I couldn't ask for a better boss ( Neil Johnson ) HR they don't really know anything about are pay or the next steps for us. My mentor does his best. I feel from above we don't really have anybody supporting us we all just get on with the job in hand.
I work all the Overtime I can to support my life. I am a little older than the average apprentice. But we do the same work as a fully qualified engineer maybe even better so I really think this needs looking in to because, how can I be payed £14.500 a year to do the same job as a qualified engineer who is payed £28.000 a year?
there is loads
Yes
I feel I have the best job in the world, I love coming in to work. The only thing work is the Apprenticeship program !
Go for it
