My role is an Engineering Technician and I go on a number of different placements around the plant varying from Quality Assurance, Process Optimisation and Launch Control Management. My Home department is launch control where the new facelifts and additions to the MINI's are validated before they are fazed into production.
Since joining the apprenticeship I not only have greatly improved my engineering skills but also my general working skills, especially commiunication and confidence and now feel comfortable talking to larger groups of people and people I haven't interacted with before.
I am enkjoying this program, whereas previous jobs i have had it felt like a chore getting up and going to work, this apprenticeship is not the same.
I feel very valued by the BMW Group especially while out on placement where the work i am doing is actually affecting the business and i receive feedback that is not only informational but motivating.
The program is relatively well structured even though there were some issues with staffing and assessors it is clear to see that the management team are working hard to get everything back on track and runnning smoothly.
The support from my training provider is extremely good, with regular reviews spaced out quarterly where i can raise any issues. They are also extremely approachable and can be spoken to with any issues.
As above, there are quarterly reviews held with my employer where my progress and any issues can be discussed. There are also monthly meetings with my whole year group where issues can be raised in a more comfortable environment. Finally, they are extremely supportive of home life and health issues and have a great attitude towards them.
The salary is relatively good, however living a fair distance away from work a lot of money is spent on fuel and travel. Luckily living at home with parents means my rent is not too expensive.
Last year there was an oppurtunity to play a charity 5-a-side football tournament and there are numerous activites thorughout the year like camping and hiking.
Yes
It is a great company to work for and they look after their employees, the qualifiactions are also exceptional and it would be difficult to find similar to get the same qualifications while getting paid.
I would advise the people applying to relax in their assessment centres and interviews as they are not as stressful as you think and the company just want to get an idea of what you are like as a person and what experiences you have had.
