My main role is a personal banker and I work on the phones taking calls from customer to service their accounts and help them. As part of my development during this apprenticeship I was given the opportunity to come off the phones and look after the team whilst my team leader was on secondment in another area. This involved doing coaching and feedback with them, completing regulatory documents, leading team buzz sessions and co-ordinating with the leadership team. This opportunity has been great for my personal development.
I have had a lot of support from my apprenticeship team with my confidence. I was really anxious about speaking in a professional setting and by supporting me and giving me pointers I was able to present after only a few months on the course. I have also learnt a lot of useful information on people management which and career planning which was something new to me.
It has really inspired me to aim high and it is so motivating to be around lots of others who want to succeed and support each other. The team who lead the course are very supportive and encouraging and I am really enjoying being on the course.
I feel incredibly valued as Barclays are investing in me and giving me this opportunity to learn new skills and gain a useful qualification. It means a lot that they have done this as I put a lot of hard work in to help develop myself
Very well. I have studied before and didnt feel the same support and inspiration from the team back then. The team at barclays and anglia ruskin are all fantastic. They give you all the study dates and information in advance too.
Anglia ruskin have been fantastic. You can approach anyone from there for help and they are great. Barclays have also been very supportive.
Barclays have supported me with arranging time off and travel to study sessions and giving me regular time to do my studying during the week. They ahve also supported me in getting more opportunities to develop my skills and advance in my career
I feel the Barclays salary is very good anyway but to be able to study with no cost is amazing as I would not be able to do this without Barclays support. I would have loved to have gone back to study previously but couldnt afford to lower my hours to do this so this opportunity was amazing
The social side of the program has been great as we have all made great connections which are helpful for work and also great for friendship and support. The qualifications I gain are also very transferable
Yes
I recommend barclays as the salary is very good for the north of england and the opportunities available are great.
I would keep an open mind as there are so many opportunities available that its hard to know where you want to go. Take any opportunities to enhance your role with both hands and dont be afraid to aim high.
