Currently, I am a change manager and make updates to the systems my colleagues use on a daily basis to log and manage complaints. I currently do not manage a team
have learnt a lot about looking at my work load and making time for everything, it has supported me in looking at situations from a manager's point of view rather than an employee
I do enjoy the programme, there are times when I wish the tutors would be a bit more clearer when setting the assignments as I feel I miss bits and then can loose marks at the end. But overall, I enjoy my study blocks and the earning we do
sometimes, I do not feel valued at all but my degree has taught me to look beyond this and concentrate on what I do best and that is deliver my changes and support my team
I feel it can be more structured especially during the first week as it was overload and I walked away quite confused. I think the packs handed out could have been explained better and this would have supported us later as we went through them. The dates on our handouts were also incorrect so when filing, it did get a bit confusing. I think there is work to do with the delivery and feel during the first week maybe previous students should be there to present and support the freshers
My personal tutor has been great, I was so confused with my first assignment but she pointed me in the right direction and gave me the confidence to complete and pass. My marks have been improving slowly but I am happy that I am passing and improving my structure and overall performance at the pace I am.
My employer has been very supportive with arrange study times for me every other week and not interrupting me when I am off. My team have picked up changes I would usually deliver to free me up to study when my assignments are due.
My travel costs are all paid for therefore, I do not need to find funds to cover any other costs as the degree, hotel and food are covered by the programme.
The degree has opened me up to more opportunities to explore, for now I am content in what I do but I feel confident that I can move into a new role with my new skills
Yes
I have worked for Barclays for 23 years and have always found them to be a great employer, all of my management to date have been fair and are advocates of the Barclays Values.
I always tell others applying for roles to speak to someone in the team before they apply, job shadow if possible. this gives them a real insight into the team they will be joining and who they will be working with.
