I was difficult at first but as my confidence is growing and I am beginning to understand it more I am starting to enjoy it more too. I have enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends and am impressed with the product that the company makes.
Yes as we are always encourage to work hard and do our best which makes me feel that they not only want us to pass but to also make us achieve our best.
We are following a national curriculum that has been laid out for us to follow which the company has been using for many years.
As I joined the company straight from school my learning skills were not as advanced as some of the older people therefore I have needed more support from my tutors than some of the other people on my course. I am now getting more confident so don't need as much.
Trainers from the company come into college every day to check on us and we know how to find them or contact them if we need them.
I think that for a 16 year old with no previous experience or skill that my wage is very fair.
As at them moment we are at college full time there are not many opportunities to get involved but I do think that there are opportunities when you are in the business as some of the apprentices that are in their 2nd and 3rd years have told us about them.
Yes
You are given the opportunity to earn while you learn and any job where you can continue your education and better yourself all the time is a good thing.
The application form was quite long and some of the questions were hard to answer when you are only 16 and still at school as they wanted lots of information about being a member of a team that wasn't sport related, not many people who are just leaving school have much team experience other than being a member of a sports team. The interview was fine, I did lots of research about the company and looked on their website for the apprenticeship information for the one I applied for. We had 2 weeks induction 1 week about the company and 1 week about the college which gave us lots of useful information but sometimes there was lot to take in in little time.
