  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Team manager within telephone banking supporting customers queries at first touch and coaching and supporting my team to grow and develop. Within my team they take a range of calls from banking to online, part of my role is to support with calls if the call volumes are high allowing me front line experience to add into my coaching.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Throughout my career I have continued to develop within my current role and learning a number of skills along the way. One of my key areas for development is around challenging and difficult conversations although this does not form part of the apprenticeship it is something that I have on my development plan to continue to grow and stretch. Within the current apprenticeship I am completing I have found the section around creating a robust development plan very rewarding and also providing me a different overview of my own development and what matters to me.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy learning during completing my day to day role, for me I am passionate to gain as much experience and qualifications throughout my career and with the apprenticeship it gives me the perfect balance with discussing and providing evidence through my day to day role. I am pleased that I completed the level 2 prior to completing the level 3 which has also give me an insight into what to expect when beginning the level 3 qualification aimed at managers.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Lloyds Banking Group?
  • Throughout my working life Lloyds has been the company I have held the longest career with, through my time as a consultant my passion has always been around developing myslef to stretch to my full potential. I continually look to develop in role and champion the groups values and key accountabilities. In terms of myself I have been with the group since I left school and could see myself spending the rest of my working life here developing skills and a developing progressive career, for me I feel valued by LBG and would recommend to others.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In terms of the structure of my programme it has not been the most smoothest of transitions, due to a change in apprenticeship providers this led to me having 3 different assessors within a 3 month period, prior to my most recent meeting I never met my original assessor and my 2nd switched to the new provider where I remained on the old apprenticeship scheme. Although going forward there now appears to be structure with regular meets I am a little disappointed that I need to provide similar information that I have already done previously, for me it has not been the best structure but I feel I am now moving in the right direction.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • With my new assessor I feel that I have a clear structure and my details will be updated to show my progression which will move me from an off track area to an on track area, I am really pleased that I have now met my new assessor and that we have scheduled meetings in the future. In terms of the work books I am very comfortable with what is expected and required to ensure I achieve my qualification within the timeframe highlighted.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • With my employer if I need any additional time they are more than happy to accommodate, although I aim to complete the majority of my learning outside of work. If there was ever an occasion where I would need time in work they are more than happy to support this. As mentioned my overall commitment is my day to day role and I would not like the additional learning to impact this which is why I aim to complete this outside of work.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary is a clear reflection of the role that I do and in terms of comparison to others my wage and benefits package is really positive for my work life balance. With my office being local travel is not much of expenditure and with my location it is prime within the community and merely a 15 minute drive per day. In terms of everyday living I am very happy with this and currently have no additional commitments that would affect this.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • In terms of my current area of work you will get out of the role what you put in and this also applies to development and progression. We have internal communications of opportunities and the ability to tailor these to your own personal skills or requirements for a role which is really handy in ensuring you are looking for a job that appeals to you. In terms of the organisation and the community they have regular day to make a difference events which allows colleagues to visit the community and support this with gardening etc, which is really rewarding for the group and importantly the company. In terms of local activities the council provide a great wealth of events for all ages and for me personally football community.

  • As it is a great employer to work for. Progression is regualrly available to anyone that wishes to push themselves to acheive this.
