Managing a portfolio of c55k international wealth clients. Creating the strategy for contacting/servicing these clients digitally with the aim of enhancing the client journey and client satisfaction. Making use of wealth analysis and the inbound/outbound telephony colleagues to maximise the revenue available in the portfolio.
numerous and various skills: from analyzing data and using it to drive client focused strategies, to managing and leading people by providing clear vision and support to empower colleagues to deliver great services to our clients, presentation skills, risk management etc.
The programme provides great theoretical and business knowledge but the practical aspect of doing the role is far more interesting and rewarding; being able to put in practice what you learn and seeing the results is amazing
Barclays has a great culture focused on empowering colleagues to do the right thing and rewarding (financially and non-financially) those people who deliver great customer service. Barclays also invests in talent and promote from within. The only downside is that the culture can differ from one department to another; for example speaking with colleagues who work in branches, they do not feel as valued.
The programme is well structured; it has a good balance between being in the role (85% of the time) and being in Uni. Also, speaking with colleagues from previous cohort, the programme has used feedback to improve the modules and the delivery of lectures/seminars. For instance, previously the programme was across 3 years (now just 2) and there were big gaps (even 4/5 months) between study blocks whereas now is more intensive but easier to stay on track
Great amount of support to the extent to which at sometimes you feel spoon fed; everything is clear and easy and support is always there even where you do not ask for it. Having done a degree previously with one of the best Universities in the UK, I always felt like no one there cared about the students, everything was rigid, take it or leave kind of attitude whereas in this programme the experience has been exactly the opposite.
I have been told by my colleagues that this can vary a lot depending of the department and ultimately depending on your line manager. From my experience, things have been really easy for me, never had a problem and always felt supported. I can say that I have never taken all the study leave I was entitled to because I always prioritized my day-to-day role than the studies which meant that ultimately I had to sacrifice more weekends to be on top with Uni commitments but that has been my decision and I am sure that had I wanted to be more strict with my study leave I would have been equally supported.
This depends a lot on each individual, colleagues that are doing the programme can vary in roles from very entry level roles (e.g. BA3 - Moment Banker) to very senior roles (e.g. BA6 - Vice-President). In my case the package clearly exceeds my costs (note that a lot of the costs related to the programme are covered by the Uni/bank).
Unclear on this question;
Yes
Great culture, where colleagues are empowered to do the right thing, all people that I've worked with are very nice and easy to work with; everyone (including very senior people) is kept accountable against the RISES values which makes it a safe and enjoyable working environment. Barclays invests in talent and promotes from within. The bank is so big that there are numerous opportunities for finding a role/career that suits you. Barclays is really trying to be customer centric, putting the customer at the heart of all our decision, there is definitely room for improvement but we are definitely moving in the right direction at a good pace
research the Barclays values (Respect Integrity Service Excellence Stewardship - RISES) as I think this is one of the key things that differentiates us from other banks. Barclays has been a key driver of innovation in the financial industry so make sure to know some of these facts (even greater points if you show that you are innovative and like to challenge the status quo). Understand that the bank is massive (over 100k colleagues worldwide) and that roles, culture, experience may be very different from one department/team to another - get to understand your role and team (either before the interview - schedule a call with the Hiring manager- or during the interview - ask a lot of questions)
