I am a multi skilled apprentice engineer. I have responsibilities such as my own food production line, i have to comeplete my own maintenance tasks on my line and i am responsible for any improvements on the line. My daily tasks are usually attending breakdowns and assissting with any major works being carried out.
Before my pprentice, i had never worked inside a factory on production lines, i have been taught overtime how to react quickly to different and changing situations. I have of course gained my qualifications which are BTEC level 3, food safety level 2 and i am working towards my foundation degree. Working in a factory has made me alot more confident and brought me out more as a person
I really enjoy working with my hands and doing practical things which is what my job is. I have been offered help all the way through my apprenticeship which is great. I enjoy learning and finding out new things, university is a challenge but very interesting.
I do feel very valued by premier foods. Part of this is having alot of responsibility, to me it shows that they trust me and are willing to challenge me. If you do good work, it is possible to recieve free cinema tickets along with free meals in the canteen.
It has a good structure, i am well supported by my manager and collegues. i am being put through good training which will make me a better enigneer with good qualifications. i am allowed time each week at work to study and complete any coursework.
I am going to class my current training provider as uni of greenwich. They have good support and coming up to exams they hold lots of revision sessions which i have used. most of my tutors have been enigneers working so have lots of experience to be able to help with different problems.
My employer are very supportive with my training, personal health and general wellbeing. I have recently had an operation and have been well looked after.Any issues i get at work with needing help everyone tries their best to guide me in the right direction.
For an apprentice, i am paid very well. Each year if i hhit my targets i get a payrise of approx 4k. My travel costs are around £150 a month on fuel due to living 30 miles away from work, with my salary this is acceptable.
I have undergone tasty ambassador training. This means that i am an ambassador for premier foods and represent them at different events. These are events such as skills fayres where people are looking for different companies to potentially work for.
Yes
They are a overall very good company to work for. They look after their staff, pay well and the general atmosphere is very friendly.
