My current job title is a data analyst. I am completing analysis on payments data in the bank. I am identifying trends in the data to inform the relevant stakeholders of interesting trends. I thoroughly enjoy my role and I am full involved in the teams day to day work, I am not treated as an apprentice. My placement before this was change management. I was involved in managing changes to the internet bank. I was given my own changes to manage. This was a massive responsibility but I really loved it.
I previously had no experience in any technical knowledge. I have learnt massive amounts of information that I didn't think I was able to understand before. I have attended a micro strategy training course, this is to help me improve my data visualisation. My degree studies relate directly to my day to day work also, allowing me to gain experience in the subject I am studying. I have dramatically improved in my technical knowledge and I am gaining confidence everyday.
The program is hard work, but very rewarding. I enjoy the teams I work with. All are very friendly and helpful, especially if I need some help. There is a really friendly, driven and focussed culture within the company which falls in line with my own personal morals. The expectations surpassed my initial expectations.
As an apprentice I feel highly valued within the company. We are seen as the future of the company and are very heavily supported. It is ensured we enjoy our placements and are progressing as planned. We are highly recognised for the work we do and often have big roles to play in the tasks and projects taking place.
We began with a 4 day induction. This was very detailed and covered all aspects of our program. We also met with people from different areas of the bank to run through their areas. We met with other apprentices and graduates which was welcoming for when we started our first day. We get a lot of support from different members of staff in our placements and from the apprentice team. The programme is extremely organised and we are always well informed. Our point of contact is clear and I always feel I can raise any problems I may have.
We are delegated an apprentice liaison specifically from the uni . We get same day replies and they are always happy to support with whatever queries. The tutors are helpful and on hand to help with questions. We have skills workshops to help us improve our university work.
We receive a high amount of support from our employer. We have dedicated apprentice managers who we meet on regular basis to talk through how we are doing, what we want to change, how to progress etc. We also have frequent 1-2-1s with out line managers in our placement. This is also aimed at helping us progress. Managers always make time if I ask, and are always happy to support.
My current salary has allowed me to have more freedom. I can afford to treat myself each month as well as pay for 3 holidays this year! We get full bonuses and a progressive pay. I have to pay to park and petrol to travel, which my salary covers.
There are tonnes of opportunity's out side of work. We are encouraged to help the local community with a compulsory community day. We do a lot of fundraising activities to raise money. The workplace encourages a healthy active lifestyle as well as a relaxed environment. I have taken part in multiple community activities. Outside events are promoted in work with discount promoted.
Yes
I work in a very happy relaxed and professional environment. I am heavily supported and I'm progressing every day. I am earning a degree as well as getting work life experience. We have competitive pay and have a once in a life time experience.
Be confident, it is very daunting but never as bad as you think. Do lots of revision on the company. Being networking straight away as people DO remember you.
