TV Outside Broadcast Engineer. We are responsible for the live transmission of many different live events such as English Premier League, Rugby, Snooker to name a few. We deliver this service over satellite or down the fiber.
I Have developed may new skills within the Telecoms industry and gained a new insight into the working of the TV and Media world.
I love the job, every day is diferant every job can posses new challenges to overcome which keeps it all very interesting. the TV sector is a constantly evolving world and has a very exciting future ahead.
Within the company i do feel like a valued member of the team. There is a good working relationship in our group which is shown consistently with helping and supporting each other.
The training we receive is of very high quality. Some of the best in the Telecoms sector. a 6 week intensive training course and a whole other NVQ is what we have been set to hit the ground running and learn and grow on the job as well as this. considering the role which i am in is a very specific role a new program had to be built specifically for the 4 apprentices within this sector. This shows just how well BT can accomodate and adapt as a company.
All support i could need is readily available from within the team. there is constant change in the industry and a constant need for everyone to evolve as a group rather than specific support for one person.

The pay is very good, for a first year apprentice i was not expecting the wage i recieved and then the step up in yearly salary each year is again very good. travel costs is very low as i am in a prime location to easily catch a bus into work.
Yes. There are many opportunities to volunteer at charities or the reserve army. many events are spread all over the country and some even allow you to spend time abroad to experience new things.
Yes
the company as a whole really does value their employees. You are very well looked after and protected, not just a job, a career.
The application process is long, but easy to do. they are very simple questions which just test the waters to get a reflection of who you are. this gives a very good indicator if you are suited to working in the good working environment BT strives to uphold. Apply, there is 1000's of different roles within BT that you probably didn't even realise existed. And you might just find one you fall in love with as well.
