During my days work we undertake he role of a substation craftsmen which means we undertake roles in maintaining equipment for the transmission of electricity.
Over my apprenticeship time it has been very valuable in learning new skills. They have taught me many hands on skills aswell as academic, which will aid me in my future in the industry.
Overall it is a very enjoyable programme, there is lots of quality people within National Grid who try to help all the way through.
I feel very valued. They look at the apprentices as the future, as they know through retirement we are the next up and coming workforce. So overall i feel very valued.
Our programme is very well structered, they have yearly plans that are updated regularly to keep us up to date with the RPO.
During our training we recieve as much support as we need. They always try to help where they can.
There is lots of help offered to us my National Grid, there is lots of policys and helplines to ring, and even if you speak to a fellow employee they are always happy to help.
Our salary is a amazing salary for a apprentice. It allows me to enjoy my money and invest it where i like. I think it is a good wage.
There are opportunities which National Grid offer you to do, there is multiple fundraising activities and there are also things which National Grid invite you to attend if you wished to do so.

Because as a company it is very good enviroment to work within, they offer alot of training to educate yourself and the pay is good.
