Insurance claims assessor, communicating with the vets and/or policyholders in relation to claims
Learning different ways of communicating between vets and policyholders to ensure each party is clear on our expectations and what they can expect from us. Technical medical knowledge, and the legal & regulatory aspects of the insurance industry including contract law.
I am enjoying the programme as it teaches me a lot about the industry and how the regulatory environment directly affects what we do. I can pass this knowledge onto other team members and this in turn allows other people a better understanding. I can see that our company culture exceeds the regulatory minimum requirements.
At the moment I'm not getting involved in any additional projects, training nor am I recognised as someone who is doing this apprenticeship. Whilst this is frustrating that I can't put my knowledge to good use, I expect that once I finish the course more opportunities will be made available to me.
Good, clear units to pass, the books are broken down into chapters to help monitor your progression. Mentor support is normally quite good, and feedback is provided on course units.
The training provider is good, our mentor has just changed and this is causing some delay in them providing appropriate feedback and support.
Mostly good, I am allowed up to 2 hours a week for the apprenticeship. Whilst this is well below the 20%, they allow more time prior to the exams to help with revision.
RSA fully pay for the course
Once the full course is completed, I expect there to be many opportunities both within the company and outside with other insurance companies.

Put yourself forward for as many training opportunities as you can, don't be afraid to apply for roles out of your comfort zone. Treat interview as you would any other interview, if you don't get the role on this occasion, ask for feedback and act on it.
