Working as part of a team responsible for the production of Balance Sheet reconciliations. Responsible for a number Balance Sheet Reconciliations which must be performed to quality standards and agreed deadlines. This requires having attention to detail but also the ability to see the big picture and to understand the impact on the financial statements of any issues identified. Job requires require an excellent understanding of the workings of RSA Line of Business systems and processes. Together with an excellent understanding of Double entry book keeping, Balance Sheet Accounting and Reconciliations.
Developed communication skills by being confident in speaking and presenting in front of a large group of people in my team. Learning how the business works is fundamental and being efficient and effective in the my studying whilst maintaining a high level of quality whilst in the workplace.
I feel some parts of my programme to be unnecessary as I have been given multiple Kaplan modules regarding reflecting my development of skills and behaviours for which I have already have. This includes basic Maths and English. As I have A Levels and a degree in Accounting and Finance, I believe modules on GCSE Maths and English to be a waste of time.
I feel valued within my team but as part of the company, the team is overlooked for tasks and work we perform.
The programme is not structured very well as it has caused me a few issues in signing up for the apprenticeship. Also the learning material has not been very efficient for me as I have a 9-5 job but the web-ex lectures are at 12-2.30 which I cannot attend due to work commitments.
I feel I have support in the wrong areas. As my programme is a professional qualification, there has only been 6 lectures for the whole course. I do not believe it has been sufficient in order to learn the whole module and obtain a satisfactory mark whilst I have to complete my work and hit deadlines on my Kaplan modules.
I have received help from my employer in terms of days of for study leave in order to attend revision courses. However, there has been no mentoring and talent coach in regards to my professional qualification.
I feel my salary is extremely low for the job I have completed in the past 2.5 years I have been within the company.
There have been a couple of company events and activities which have been exciting.
No
I believe RSA is only a starting block for a finance career.
The interviews are relatively straight forward, there is no assessment day unless it is a graduate application.
