I am a team leader of an admin based role within Lloyds Bank. I manage 10 colleagues who are of the same grade and complete the same role. Managing the colleagues includes reviewing their performance monthly and providing feedback on both actions and behaviours as and when necessary. Another part of the role includes risk management, ensuring that the team is compliant and we take the necessary precautions to avoid regulatory errors. I work closely with my peer group to deliver change and find simpler way of doing things.
I haven't got too far in to the course to say that I have learnt a great deal. I have attended 2 of the Kaplan workshops which I thought were really useful especially the managing stakeholder relationships workshop. This helped me to identify stakeholders that I needed to give more attention too. I have met lots of new contacts who have been able to help me with different challenges faced as a line manager.
I find that the online work is difficult to find the time to complete. The face to face programmes are excellent, the trainers that I have had an experience with have all been energetic and certainly knowledgeable on the subject. I have unfortunately not yet heard from my talent coach which has been really disappointing. My talent coach has marked the work that I have completed up to date.
I feel very valued as a colleague of Lloyds Banking Group. It is really great the business has decided to contribute towards my personal development and this helps colleagues to feel valued. The recent share contributions that were awarded to colleagues following strong performance results has also helped me to feel valued as a colleague. As a line manager it is important to feel valued to help created that atmosphere of feeling valued in the team that you are managing
I think the online portal is actually very good. However there have been occasions that the programme kicks you out and you have to restart a course which has been really time consuming. The main reason for rating this a low score is due to the fact that I have had no communication with my talent coach. Having spoken with other people on the face to face courses I feel like I have had a lot less support than others have.
I have not received any support apart from the comments following the submission of my work. The comments seem to be very similar on each bit of work that was completed and I know that they were all marked on the same day. I haven't received any "feedback" as such. I would have liked to have had an initial conversation with my talent coach at this point to understand if there is anything more/less that I should be doing with each work item and to understand if I am on track with my progress. I think this would keep me motivated to have regular conversations. I sometimes feel like I am doing a lot of work for no reason. It doesn't feel like an apprenticeship.
I was impressed enough that my employer agreed to contribute towards the funding of the qualification. It is not expected that I have a day a week to complete the work but my manager allows me to manage it in to my work week as I see fit. If I am honest I find this really difficult to do as other work priorities arise. It is my responsibility to manage this myself.
I was already working for Lloyds Banking Group when the opportunity came up to add the qualification to my personal progression. Therefore there was no change decrease or increase to my salary. The salary that I am paid for my role I do feel is competitive and fair and covers the costs of living and working within Bristol.
I am not sure what this questions relates to as such. In terms of opportunities to support the qualification outside of work - I do not think there are many opportunities at all. In terms of opportunities to support my development outside of work - there are absolutely hundreds. I fulfil a few charity volunteer roles outside of the office which pushes me out of my comfort zone. I feel that this is the most constructive way of developing my skills.

I have worked for Lloyds Bank for 11 years. The bank is very passionate about what it wants to achieve. The bank have always been incredibly supportive of me as a colleague helping me to achieve career goals. The rewards package is great, including a competitive salary, annual bonus potential and tax free flexible benefits. On top of this there is a share match offer and share save offer which are available to colleagues. The bank is supportive of the community and you are encouraged to get involved with charity projects throughout the year.
Lloyds Banking group is passionate about their customers and colleagues. If you are passionate about great customer service and you have the behaviours that will help colleagues to feel trusted and supported then you should demonstrate those in any interview that you are invited to. There are lots of people willing to help you make the right career decisions so get in touch with somebody and talk more about the role before making any decisions.
