Apprentice Provisioning Engineer. Creating pre builds for business installs, or installing business services. Interact with mainly people in my small team and others within the same department as me. We rarely talk to customers. Our main responsibility is making sure everything is spot on and okay.
Lots of training going on within the company and getting me the skills I need to complete my daily job. Also skills that will help me in the future and not necessarily within Virgin Media. Going for my Cisco qualification which is CCNA
I enjoy the work and who I work with. It can be very interesting what I like and can be very rewarding.
I feel like a key member of staff, and my manager appraises me where appropriate. My work rates are recognized and always rewarded.
The program is new to the company so there are a lot of learning curves for the managers and the apprentices themselves. We receive a lot of time for us to study our uni work and people are always on hand to help us. The program isn't the best organized, but we are trying to push for improvements that we need.
We don't have any internal staff that are there to help us with our uni course as this is all external. The managers expect us to get on with the business work and don't offer more than that at times.
Our team leader is very helpful and is always fighting our case and helping us out. We used to have a mentor but that has phased out over coming months.
In terms of salary it is okay for an apprentice, but lower in terms of the work we actually do. We don't receive much in regards to expenses and hotels for when we are away studying, or if we do we have to fight for this. The location is great for me and easy to get to.
There isn't much in regards to outside of the company, but in the company within working hours we sometimes have charities etc come int.
Yes
Nice and chilled environment and everyone gets a long. They can help you achieve your goals.
Not to be nervous! Very relaxed environment and the interviewees where pleasant to speak with. I would like to have known a lot more about what it would be I was doing when I was starting though.
