I am a business apprentice engineer for virgin media where by I attend faults at business properties on their internet or phone lines along with installing any new equipment that customers may require. Daily interactions are always with work colleagues either face to face or over the phone and also any customers that we meet on jobs. Everyday is a different day as majority of the time I am with a mentor that is training me up but also attending training courses provided by the company.
I have learnt many new skills from day one with my job role in general, many different training courses such as health and safety, fibre training, product training, ECS training to access building sites.
I enjoy my programme I am on a lot as I have learnt a great deal of skills over the short space of time I've been here. My work colleagues and work load is brilliant. The company is a great company to work for and give you that secure feeling in the job along with many perks and offers etc. It has most definitely exceeded my expectations.
I feel that I am appreciated by both my team and my manager. I am always getting involved in any tasks that need doing and also get given a lot of responsibility to do things alone.
With regards to the organization and structure of this programme from day one has been brilliant as it has followed through step by step with my induction at the start, ongoing training in and out of classroom environments, I have my own assigned mentor that comes out with me on a daily basis and also an assessor that meets me monthly for a catch up.
With regards to my tutor I have found that the support I have received so far is brilliant.
Support from management, my mentor, my assessor etc is great as they always offer me any help needed whenever I need it.
I find that the salary as an apprentice is fair due to this being an apprenticeship and with regards to my living, travelling and daily costs etc this is made a lot easier as I have my own company van and own company fuel card where by it has saved me driving to work anymore.
There are always opportunities outside of work to get stuck into and join in with everyone else.
Yes
They look after their employees and offer them a large and great range of perks to work there.
Be yourself, do your research on the company and the products that suites your job role you've applied for, make sure that you have plenty of scenario answers ready for the interview and be prepared to stand up in front of the candidates your against and do a presentation (engage with everyone)
