My job title is Store Apprentice. In the first year, my daily tasks/duties are: working and rotating stock, tidying areas of the store and working on the tills. In the second and third years of my apprenticeship, I am a member of the management team, in which I help run shifts, complete date checks and inventory management systems, complete office paperwork, and more as well as the other tasks that I had to carry out in year one.
I have learned better communication skills in terms of communicating effectively with colleagues and helping customers with queries/complaints. At the end of my apprenticeship, i will learn First Aid skills, as it is a neccessity within my role.
I enjoy the different tasks i do throughout my working day, from talking to customers on the tills to putting out stock. I also enjoy being part of a team and working with my colleagues in order to complete tasks. Working for the company itself is also very enjoyable, the pay is very good compared to other companies out there, and the company treats its staff very well, e.g. different external benefits. This apprenticeship has definitely met my expectation if not went beyond it. I have enjoyed doing it very much and i can't wait to see what the future brings after my programme is complete.
I feel very valued in my place of work. I feel like the work that i do on a daily basis is always appreciated by my peers and that they always involve me in tasks/projects when suitable.
My programme is fairly well organised. There have been a few problems since my programme began, in relation to the company that runs it and the trainers that i am given. I have been given all the required help/knowledge that i need to do the job, through my induction and excellent training. I am continuosly getting support from my trainers and peers.
I always get help/advice from my tutor and my peers whenever i need it. Apart from the few problems i have had with trainers for the programme, they usually always give me the support i need.
I receive all the support that i need from my employer. All of my colleagues give me support whenever i need it. They always have the time to help me.
My salary is very good compared to my costs. My travel costs are easily covered since i live relatively close to my workplace. There are never any issues when it comes to my salary.
There are numerous opportunities outside of work, whether it is social gatherings or whether it is company activities to raise awareness or for charity.
Yes
I would definitely recommend Aldi to a friend as they are a great company to work for. Aldi does a good job at taking care of its people, whether that be in regards to pay, progression, support, etc.
The application process has to be completed online, which is easily done and doesn't take very long to do. The interview was very friendly and casual. It might seem as if tasks are difficlut in the beginning when you hear about them, but in reality they are very do-able especially through time and experience with working in the business. Colleagues will always be understanding and will offer support if needed no matter the situation.
