Started ACCA.
studying is fun, support from colleagues is good, a nice dynamic between learners.
Recognition is lacking, use of budgets for rewards is very strick depending on the individual manager. Always thanked for working 12 hours and cleaning up messes but getting an actual reward which requires the manager to put in extra work, recommendations etc is difficult.
it is very much self study with not much help unless asking a specific question. a how to/induction would have been so helpful.
Support is there is asking something specific, had 1 check in in 6 months and the induction was after 3 months.
None, the work piles on and there is no time unless booked off. This has caused added stress before exams.
The course is funded, 90% by the government 10% by RSA. i have not have a salary increase since starting and taking on more responsibility. The pay scale if dismal, people earn more for scanning cheques than some senior level 5's and the annual pay increase is lower than inflation. other companies pay about £4-6000 more for this type of job and now the government are funding ACCA is would be worth applying somewhere with a higher starting salary.
This year there is focus on non work activities, sports day, voluntary work, clubs, walking & running groups. This is great if you are given time to partake and some of this is outside of work/lunchtime. however, a lot of the staff have been here 10-20 years and are bored and fed up and don't want to partake or if they do they complain about it.
No
The old culture, poor technology means doing a simple job takes 3 times as long. poor wages and no benefits for new staff other than flexi on some teams. very bad morale as staff 10/20 years service are fed up and waiting for redundancy and aren't team players. Departments don't talk or help each other out so it takes months to get something done as no one is willing to make a finale decision. A lot of people get away with doing nothing and those that work well get more thrown at then an eventually leave so there are a lot of lazy staff doing very little.
Get started on ACCA straight away so you can leave as soon as it's done.
