As a trainee engineer with Openreach, I have recently completed my training and I am now working live by myself providing communications for customers in Cumbria. I interact with customers on a daily basis when fixing their faults or providing them with a new service whether it be a PSTN service or FTTC installation. I am in contact with my operations manager on a daily basis and other engineers when I am working in the field.
I am constantly learning everyday whilst I am working for Openreach and learning new skills and building my experience. I have learnt a lot of new skills over the last few months by attending courses which has given me the confidence to carry out my role as a service delivery engineer.
I really enjoy working for Openreach and it has given me the confidence to learn new skills and work by myself and with other engineers in my team. So far this new career has met all my expectations and I have really enjoyed the first few months working with this company.
I feel that I am a valued member of my team and I get a lot of support and advice from my manger and my team everyday I am working in the network.
My training programme is well structured and there is a lot of support in completing my assessments with training days planned for further studying and support.
I receive support and guidance from my learning adviser during my programme and I am really enjoying the programme so far.
I receive a lot of support from my learning adviser and manager to allow me to continue learning and completing my apprenticeship.
It meets my expectations so far and I am looking forward to completing my apprenticeship so that salary will become more beneficial.
As part of a large team there are opportunities to get involved with team building activities and get involved with charity events.

It is a fantastic company to work for and the training provided during my apprenticeship is first class. There are a lot of fantastic benefits available to employees and I feel a valued member of the company.
The application process for my career as an engineer was simple and straight forward and I was kept informed during the whole process. Be honest and confident during the application process and make sure you research your role and the company before attending the assessment day. Overall enjoy the assessment day and be confident in your abilities.
