  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • FS Year 3 Associate Being an associate at PwC, the daily tasks are similar to people who have join PwC Graduate Scheme. It varies from client interaction, internal audit, external auditing procedures, testing and control. Moving from Year 2 to Year 3 involves changing of responsibility especially in terms of coordinating more difficult work and supervising/helping out the new joiners to the Firm.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • PwC makes sure to provide you with sufficient training to ensure that you are up to date with the different auditing and accounting standards. Some of the workshop have helped in developing critical thinking and professional scepticism. Besides The work performed at PwC helped us in doing the ICAEW papers in a better way. Self Confidence have been built while engaging with client.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I had a nice experience and enjoyed this programme. Its the perfect combination for a student who study and work as well. Having a small cohort means more interaction with friends and staffs. Its easier to communicate with the lecturer and the latter knows everyone. Thus it creates a friendly atmosphere where everyone is happy to help

  • 4. How valued do you feel by PwC?
  • PwC treat us as a valuable and key asset of the firm. During the different engagement, the director and manager often value the work undertaken by us. Every year, Prizes are giving to best employee. Besides PwC do organise different socials and activities so that the employee feel valued. Finally People performing well are promoted.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Sufficient training is provided before joining the firm. While at PwC, Support from different members such as the manager, senior associates are available. Each team is well balanced with different level of people. At University, the modules have well been planned which relates to the real life and work situation. Overall It is a balanced programme.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Throughout the programme, we get different supports whether from the university or at work. At PwC, Everyone has a People Manager who ensures that you perform well and provide guidance. At University, Our Personal Tutor also keep in touch with us while on placement. The University also provides career advice which helps a lot especially when applying to jobs.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Everyone is assigned to a People Manager who supports you while at PwC. Besides we have the opportunity to meet people who had completed the same programme before and working in PwC now. They become our buddies. This indeed helps to bridge the gap at work and feel more relax to the professional environment.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • While on the programme, PwC do provide accommodation which is not far from office. As such this helps to commute to office easily and quickly. Many of the social events which PwC organise are subsidized. Travel Costs is reasonable depending on the place you are based in. If you are working at client site and need to stay at a hotel, PwC bears the cost.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • PwC do lots of social events in the community. One of them is to support young schools children in sport. Staff can volunteer to participate in these events. Besides everyone has a social group who organise many socials activities/trips/events outside work. Its a better opportunity to engage with people outside working environment.

  • Research the Firm well. Be yourself during interviews. Reflect on your past experiences especially when answering interview question. Be Relax and listen carefully. Engage with your team during assessment days-
