Interacting with clients Probslem solving Performing audit work Travel
Yes - I am currently studying towards CFAB and then ACA. So far I have learnt a massive amount during my 7 months at EY from interacting with clients to problem solving. I would never have imagined doing the work I am doing now at such a young age. It builds you as a person, and allows you to excel as quickly as possible.
I enjoy working with various people and as no day is ever the same it is exciting, however the days can be long and the work can be difficult; nonetheless, it is a great feeling finishing all the work on time and well too!
The programme is well structured, however we are not aware of the structure of our professional exams as of yet. I would have like to have had the programme over 4 years and to get the exams out of the way, but we will see how it goes. The mentor system is great, my counseller is really helpful and we have a good relationship. I can approach her should I have any queries. The induction was great fun! I loved the few days we spent in Reading.
A lot of support from my counseller. Everyone is always wanting to help which is always a plus.
I feel the salary does not my costs very well due to the location of where I am living, therefore I am not able to reimbuse my full travel costs. Also, I am hoping the salary increases in line with experience, but it is quite disheartening we do not get a near wage compared to Graduates.
Yes, there are lots of activities outside of work and the social events are great fun.
Yes
Yes - great opportunities and a great atmosphere in the office and at client sites! It is great for those that know Accounting is for them.
I would tell them to prepare as much as possible for the interview and the application process as it is quite difficult! I would also say get involved with as much as possible, and as earlier on as possible; this allows you to build your client portfolio and expand in several years time. I would have liked to have been told I would never be in the office; it is nice to be here every so often (I didn't expect the travel to be so extensive), however with the nature of the job role, I feel you can't help the travel.
