Title - High Speed Rail & Infrastructure Apprentice As my company have the Enabling Works Contract for HS2 we don't have much Civil Engineering work, so I have been focusing mainly on Ecology. Daily Tasks and Job - -Producing Clash Reports between Mitigation Sites and Ecology & Environmental Surveys -Submitting Survey Data to HS2 Daily Interactions Externally - I have regular weekly meetings with our Subcontractor to schedule and plan surveys
I have learnt and developed so much since starting my apprenticeship in November 2017 this includes: -Achieving my CSCS card qualification -Project Management -Management & Health and Safety Course -Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Course -Essay Writing -Presentation Skills I have also developed on confidence when presenting and my team working skills
I really enjoy my job and working for Fusion / BAM Nuttall definitely exceeded my expectations. I feel valued within my team and I find my tasks enjoyable and very interesting. I am so grateful I received this opportunity as starting this apprenticeship was probably the best decision I've ever made.
I always feel appreciated and valued within work as hard work doesn't go unnoticed here at Fusion. I have been to a few BAM Nuttall courses and because I'm only 19 I thought my opinion and views wouldn't be taken seriously. However, it is the complete opposite all my thoughts were listened to and taken into consideration.
The programme I am working on is brilliantly structured. For example I attend college for one day every week on a Wednesday. This allows me to play an active role within my team at work while still studying at college. I also have a mentor at work who I work closely with so I am able to achieve the best of my ability at work and college.
I attend the National College of High Speed Rail in Aston and they are very supportive with my studies. The College support students in many aspects these include: -Student Finance -Essay Writing -Organisation -Time Management -Safe Guarding I am very grateful to have this support readily available if i need to use it.
I receive just as much support from BAM Nuttall. Just recently I had an issue with my payroll and so I email our very responsive and helpful HR department and they walked me through how to resolve my problem. Another example was when I first joined the college there were a few minor issues so I mentioned these to BAM and they had a meeting with the college to resolve these problems.
My package exceeds my expectations! As BAM Nuttall provide free travel for apprentices this includes transport like trains, bus etc. Also the office I am currently working in is in the perfect location for myself. As It only takes me 20 minutes on the train and the office is located very close to the train station.
There are plenty of opportunities outside of work as Fusion have weekly clubs and socials which anyone can attend. For example Fusion hold a weekly football league between other companies every Wednesday. However, if you aren't into football Fusion also organise events like rock climbing etc.
Yes
BAM Nuttall are a brilliant company to work for they really look after their employees and its one of their main priorities. BAM are also extremely supportive they push me to achieve the best I can at work but also at college. They have also provided me with many opportunities to grow and progress in my career.
During my interview process I had a group interview. Some advice I would give for this group interview would be to stand out and don't sit back. However, if others are sitting back include them into the group discussions. Applying for BAM Nuttall was most definitely the best decision of my life.
