My role entails the preparation of both corporate and unincorporated accounts and associated tax returns. I am also a buddy for more recent school leavers. As I have developed I have started to gain more experience and more exposure to more technical areas and am beginning to have some client interaction now.
Yes I have learnt technical accounting skills and processes unique to the accountancy profession. I have completed my AAT studies and have commenced ACCA in January 2018.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme and could not have been supported any more than I have. There is an amazing ethos around the office and a sense of being part of a team. My expectations have been surpassed.
I feel valued most of the time and am kept informed for my value within the team, there is some scope for improvement but this is not necessarily a negative.
Very well organised on the whole, sometimes the training provider can slow processes down. There is a high level of support from both BDO and the training provider and I am generally kept well informed of changes/information. BDO are very accommodating and understanding of study pressures.
The tutors are really good and really supportive, generally quick responses and high level of support
Per point 5
Very well.
Yes BDO participates in corporate social responsibility tasks, networking events and charity events. There is a great social group at BDO and the company has a social committee (which I am in) in which company events are organised.
Yes
High level of support, a decent salary and a fantastic environment to work within.
Just be yourself, that is all you can do. BDO tends to value the attributes of their employees and looks to recruit the 'right people' with good people skills. BDO is a great place to start your career in accountancy as it deals with big clients that smaller firms do not but does not carry pressures of the 'Big 4'.
