My role is a cross between a Litigation assistant and an office administrator. My daily tasks involve filing, booking travel, sending invoices off for payment, archiving, generating bundles, organising meetings, taking phone calls, requesting and chasing medical records, sending off documents to be translated into English and helping any of my colleagues if they need a hand.
I have mainly learnt how to operate the systems I use as well as organising my time efficiently. I am slowly learning more about the law environment which in time will give me a wider knowledge of how things work. I have become a better typist since starting this apprenticeship as I have been completing various TypingClub tasks.
It's an enjoyable programme so far as I am expanding my knowledge and improving my skills as well as learning new skills. I think as the apprenticeship gets on I will hopefully become more enjoyable as I will have a better knowledge as to what I am doing and be able to hopefully input my unique look on things.
I feel very valued by my team and the people around me, everyone is always there to offer a helping hand and to support you through anything difficult you may come across. There are various learning modules and training tasks that are mandatory and also that you can enrol yourself in
The structure of my programme is okay, It's mainly going off my own back to get things completed as my study day is at home by myself. I am not the biggest fan of OneFile as sometimes struggle to find my way around things but hopefully I will get used to it in due time
I receive a good amount of support when I request it, they do frequently come and see me to check that everything is going okay but it is unusual to any type of training I have done in the past so will get some taking used to. They are always available to get in contact with
My employer is always there to support the choices that I do and make sure I have sufficient time to study. My supervisor allows me to do the odd bit of studying in my working hours if it's essential which is very good. I've heard Irwin Mitchell are one of the best employers for an apprenticeship scheme like this.
At the moment it is okay as I am on an apprenticeship scheme but I expect it will improve once I have completed my course
There are many opportunities outside of work, Irwin Mitchell are always involved in events outside of the work place which is great to support communities, charities or even just socialise with people. this sunday I am participating in a dragon boat race for charity which I am very much looking forward to.
Yes
Irwin Mitchell is a fantastic company with a very chilled environment with a lot of support if you need it. Very reputable name and lives up to the expectation from what I have seen. It seems like a place where you can grow through the ranks which is what most people want within a work place
