I am a paint/surface finish apprentice. My jobrole changes weekly, however my overall role is to ensure the vehicles paint is in tip top condition.
Applying paint. Understanding the importance of preparing surfaces for paint.
The programme is very enjoyable. I’ve learnt many new skills and had multiple opportunities to develop my knowledge in different aspects of surface finish.
Very valued. We are treated as normal employees!
Very structured. I know when to attend to college and what we will be learning. I know what department I’m working in from week to week in the workplace.
As much as I’d like. Additional support is available if required. We work at our own pace and providing we meet deadlines. There are no problems.
A lot. All our questions bad queries are answered. We have dedicated training staff in each department we work in.
Our wage is all higher than the national average. Some months are a squeeze, but I make it work.
Plenty. Paint professionals are always needed. Having the skills I’ve learnt are very useful!
