My apprenticeship allows me to explore the different departments throughout the paintshop and places me in roles that require skill and technique to complete the task at hand. All apprentices spend a month at a time in each department where we then change around following our rota. This opportunity allows me to develop skills and relationships with those around me.
I have learnt many skill during my time so far and have developed skills such as working in a team and problem solving. Before this apprenticeship i had no experience working with paint, now I feel competent in all aspects including Preperation, spraying and finish. Apprentices are sent to college in week long blocks that allow us to gain further knowledge in the trade and expand our capabilities further.
I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship and I am looking forward to my future career with BMW Group. This programme has exceeded any expectations I previously had, this subject is very fulfilling and gives me great satisfaction when each task is completed.
Being part of BMW Group I feel great involvement when working in each area as they approach me as part of the team rather than an apprentice which means I can perform at my best whilst learning the skills required. Working for a company such as BMW Group has its renound benefits and is globally known for its efficiency and high quality products.
My programme is well structured and I have clear understanding of where I am required to be and the dates of which I am required to attend college. I am easily contactable via the work email and mangers are always more than willing to help in any situation.
My training provider is always contactable and easily accessable via phone and email, we have assesors that visit the premises on a regular basis to see how we are getting on and whether any further assistance is required.
All members of staff are more than willing to help and managers are approachable for any concerns that I may have. If any issues arrise there is a HR team that can be contacted and an appointment made if necessary.
As a first year apprentice the salary is £12,000 this is great and will increase annually, I live about an hour away meaning that travel expenses are high but will becomre more managable in the following years.
As apprentices we are offered the chance to talk to schools, local businesses and also have the chance to take part in extra carricular activities surrounding our knowledge. There are regular events held by BMW Group which we are able to take part in.
