I am a Building Services Engineer apprentice. My main daily tasks at the moment are doing CAD work. Mainly on a programme called Revit. Interally my interations are with the people who I sit near and are usually informal conversations about things outside of work. Externally interactions might be ringing a manufacturer about infomation on a grille or Air handling unit. Some of the project I have worked on are Riyadh Metro Station, Sussex University and an Istanbul Data Centre. I mainly do design work on Revit for the mechanical, electrical and public health services in a building.
I have almost finished my Level 3 Construction in the Built Environment course on day release at Newcastle College. My communication skills have improved since starting here. I have gained skills on Revit, AutoCAD, Cymap and Excel.
I really enjoy work because I like the design work, I find it interestring and a it's a new challenge each day. I also enjoy going to college one day a week.
I feel valued because I am involved a lot on a project and I feel my opinion is valued.
I feel it was well structured because anything i needed to progress it was there for me such as support and training.
I know that if i need support or something I can easily ask my tutor. Throughout my NVQ i think i got the support i needed.
I recieved support if i asked for it, my manager and mentor would always ask if i was coping with the work load and if i needed a hand with anything.
It meets them very well as I live with my parents and dont travel very far to work.
There is a company sports social club where events and activities are held every week. When i wasnt working I was in Sixth Form
Yes
I would recommend Arup as it is a friendly environment to work in and it is a good place to further your career. I think the design work of projects is a big factor as it makes my ork more interesting.
I would say be as prepared as possible for the interview but also relax during it.
