My current job title is apprentice manager. My daily tasks include managing staff, working stock, being on a till, dealing with customers and still learning new things in the process. Im a key holder at my store so this is a huge responsibility and so is holding the safe
Everything I have done since joining Aldi has been new to me, I went there straight from school and it was quite a big jump. But everything im learning on a day to day basis i try to remember and use it again as and when needed
I really enjoy the physical side of the job and I work with a good team of people overall.
I feel like I do a lot more then people recognize I do, its very rare you will be praised by the manager or anyone higher but on occasions this will happen
My training for the shop floor and tills was great I now do both of these with ease. Im still waiting for training on quite a few things and ive only recently stepped up to level 2.
The college side of the course is what lets it down for me personally. I find when my tutor comes in i am gone off the shop floor for hours and also find some of their suggestions very unreasonable and unrealistic. However if I do need help with anything they are always just a text/phonecall away
My in-store mentor is my go to person on a daily basis, he always has time to listen and show me anything i am struggling with.
I think I am paid well compared to other apprenticeships however i sometimes feel for the work I do day to day that its not enough! Im fortunate in terms of still living at home so for now i get by on what i earn
There probably are things to do but I never hear of/about them so dont really get involved
Yes
Because overall its a good company to work for and the opportunitys to better yourself are there. Its a good way of you growing up quickly and learning an awful lot about yourself and other people
Be prepared to work hard, do long shifts, do long weeks, say no to going out because your working, get up early and face challenges everyday. If you give everything to it you will see the positives and there will be a good outcome.
