Labs Apprentice Meetings with manager and other team members, review of current work, writing reports on experiments, planning on experiments, carrying out experiments. I have 3 projects which I am currently responsible for. I often have interactions with external companies where we discuss future alliances.
My laboratory skills have advanced greatly, there are opportunities for me to develop my programming skills, having presented my work to my team my public speaking is improving. There are many safety courses lead by external instructors.
I feel appreciated in my team, the company have never treated me as a lesser employee - I feel valued. It exceeded my expectations. I feel fulfilled and pushed.
I receive recognition from my Managers, and other team members. I am always involved in team projects and meetings. I feel like a valued member of the workforce.
There is structure, my study day is generally on the same day each week so I am able to plan my time accordingly, if there is a need to swap the day, my team is flexible and understanding. I have a mentor who I can go to for support from further afield. There is a definite structure within the team. Tasks are delegated by my manager but discussed with me first.
The course is available online at all times. The course advisor is contactable online, and usually responds quickly. Some of the assignments are long and can take longer than the estimated times given. It takes a lot of time. Some feedback on assignments is not thorough.
Manager is always happy to take the time to talk with me if I have an issue. I meet monthly with my mentor and they are always available if I have an issue to discuss. HR and IT support are easily contactable and very friendly. In general, people want to help you, which makes fixing issues a lot easier.
Although competitive, currently my salary covers most of my expenses, however, I do not have much leeway to save up.
Only 25minutes away from London, I am able to spend my spare time there. There are leisure/sports clubs nearby. Having made good friends at work, I am able to socialise with them externally. There are many parks nearby so when the weather is nice we can go and enjoy the outdoors.
Yes
I feel valued and respected at work. People here are excited to help you develop, and are energised by asking questions about their work. There is a real community here.
Be yourself, try and talk about things which you are excited by, show them why you are a good fit with our values.
