in the rolls royce woodshop we use a varity of different veneers and use many different machines. you get to work with many different types people and personalities. you have to work to high standard so there is a lot of responsibilites to get each part to its best. as apprentices we also get set many different projects to get pn with aswell as the normal day to day work. we also get to move around the different area's this allows us to get trained in all departments.
yes, we go to college two days a week. this helps us to devlop skills outside of work in a diferent environment. we also get taught on the types of wood, where it comes from, and many other things. at the end of the furniture courses we get a level 3 qulification in furniture manufacturing.
i enjoy some of the work here more than others, however i really like some of the people who we work with as they are easy to talk to and can have a laugh with. also the compay benifits are great as you can get many of them.
at rolls royce we get to be involved in many different projects, so this makes us feel as if we are very involved in the company. also we get regular college interviews this allows us to have targets set and lets us know how we are getting on. we also get recognition from other associates as they let us know when were doing something well.
yes the programme is very well structured this allows the course run smoothly with no hiccups. i think the programme works well running along side our college course as they both use the same skills, and both require simillar training. also we have regular college reviews so this also allows us to get updated feedback on how we are doing and able to set up new targets.
we get quite alot of support from our training provider, if we ever get stuck of behind on work, they are always there to help. also theyre always happy to stay on later or come in on a different day to help catch up aswell.there is a also quite a postive attituide around the course and the lecturers.
we get quite a lot of support we have a monthly apprenitce meeting where we talk about projects we are working on and any events that have come up. we can also talk a bout any issues or problem weve got aswell. we also have a college mentor between works college who comes in and we have a meeting about how we are doing.
my salary meets my costs well, however travel does take into account quite abit, and at the start it was quite unusual to get used to, but all in all its good.
during the summer there is family fun days where they can host a varity of different events. in the winter there was a winter wonderland day so this allows a lot of people to get to know each other.
