My apprenticeship is a Level 6 Quality Engineering apprenticeship with BMW Group Hams Hall and will take 4 years to complete. It comprises of the first year at college to complete a level 3 qualification and then moves on to the level 6 qualification. There are 11 apprentices this year and work 9-5 5 days a week.
I have learned a lot this year from my apprenticeship including the workshop skills I have learnt and also the Btec courses we are completing is providing a lot of information for me to apply to my job role. I already had a basic understanding however he more i do, the more i have learnt.
When i wake up in the morning i feel like i want to go to work. I enjoy the apprenticeship and also really like the people i work with. They are all good people.
Yes.
The program provided by BMW is very well organised and the time we spend at the workplace is always worthwhile. The college we go to however is not so well organised and sometimes gets mixed up in the units we have to complete. This is probably the only issue with the apprenticeship.
I receive plenty of support from my manager and the lecturers at the college with the work i have to complete and also any issues I've had during my apprenticeship.
Our employer comes into the college we study at on a regular basis and always ensures we are okay and carries out one to ones with us to disclose any issues any of us are experiencing. There are also half yearly reviews carried out which reviews our progress and our pay rise.
The salary provided is enough for me to live off comfortably whilst renting a one bedroom flat and pays for all my bills whilst also allowing for me to pay for leisure activities. Including a company car provided by the company. Along with a review based pay rise every 6 months, the pay only increases and increases.
The company provides us opportunity to go visit the other plants around the UK and pays us to stay in hotels nearby for the duration of our time there. They also send the apprentices to Skern Lodge at the start of our apprenticeship where we take part in team building activities.
Yes
BMW is one of the leading car manufacturers in the world and the apprenticeship is in high demand and is also a highly rewarding apprenticeship to be part of. The company supports all of us in our education and the end result is a very good job.
Be honest in the answers you provide on the online tests. They appreciate honesty and will respect it. They look for the potential in people however a good interview also helps. Ensure you're confident in the interviews and have a good CV. The managers at BMW are all nice people and will support you if you let them.
