As a work experience student, each day varied. Each morning there would be a talk or presentation, for example an entry to law talk and litigation presentation. Then, in the afternoon I joined my supervisor for that day, we alternated throughout the week meaning I worked with three different trainee solicitors in different departments. When working with my supervisor I was given tasks to do, some of which involved actually helping the supervisor with their work and others were activities that were related to the area of law in that department.
At Pinsent Masons I developed my interpersonal skills as I had to meet a lot of new people, including other work experience students and employees of Pinsent Masons. I also learnt what it was like to be working in a professional environment and how a law firm works and is structured.
I thoroughly enjoyed my week at Pinsent Masons, everyone was very welcoming and friendly making the experience less nerve racking and more enjoyable. Each day involved different tasks and activities which made the week very interesting as the days were not repetitive and if you weren't enjoying something there was often another option.
I feel very valued by Pinsent Masons, all of the staff made us feel welcome and were so keen to help the work experience students to ensure we all had a great week. As well as this, Pinsent Masons also gave me feedback which shows that they really cared about me and my experience at their firm.
Although there were a couple of mix ups throughout the week, overall the programme was wells structured. There was a timetable for each day so it was clear what each day was going to involve On the first day we received an induction and met with our supervisors who we were going to be working with for the reset of the week.
Every supervisor way very supportive and I felt that I could ask as many questions as I needed to. I also felt supported as the supervisors would have talks with me to check on me to make sure the work was manageable and I was enjoying it. They also gave very helpful advice.
As this was a work experience programme I was not employed by Pinsent Masons, but the support from all of the trainee solicitors was amazing.
N/A as was an unpaid work experience programme however Pinsent Masons paying for my lunch was a very kind gesture.
As I was only there for a week I was not able to be given any opportunities like this. However, from speaking to people that work there permanently it seemed like there were a lot of company events and activities to get involved in outside of work. and that team bonding was important.
Yes
