  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My first year was based on being a store assistant which included till work and doing daily tasks such as bread replean and chill replean etc. I am currently in my second year which means i am learning how to handle money within the safe and be in charge of staff members and shop floor.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Working with aldi has developed my social skills having to deal with multiple customers daily as well as building a good relationship with the staff that work here. I have learnt that retail is not as easy as it seems and that there are many roles to play in the team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • When i first started my programme i enjoyed it thourghly however as i have spent more time here i am beginning to realise that it is not for me. The staff here do not take me seriously and i get looked down upon alot. I no longer enjoy it here.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Aldi?
  • Alot of the staff with higher authority have told me multiple times that they see me as a younger sibling and get very protective with me getting home and rude customers however Aldi as a whole not much at all.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I see my trainer every 6-8 weeks which i find very beneficial however other than basics such as safe work i dont feel like i have had much training at work.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Alot. Whenever i am striggling i recieve alot of support from my trainer Sian she is brilliant.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • If i am in need my store manager will do his best to help out however he can however i feel more comfortable approaching my trainer.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • As a young person i dont have to pay many bills therefore my package is reasonable however when i am not getting my contracted hours my pay then evidently becomes rubbish which is when i begin to struggle.

  • 9. Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
  • No


  • 9b. Why?
  • As much as i enjoyed it here to start with i dread work on a daily basis now. I would definitely recommend Aldi to shop with however there are many reasons as to why i wouldnt as a job. It may be suitable for many of people just not for me.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • I would tell them that they need to be very open minded and very patient with both staff and customers.
