My job title is Engineering Technician apprentice. My daily tasks will include; project planning, larger maintenance jobs and problem solving tasks. The main objective of my job role is to improve the efficeincy of job processes to save time, money and resources. My daily interactions consist of talking to cell operators and lead associates to understand work processes and identify where possible improvements can be made.
At the end of my first year at college I will have achieved a Level 2 NVQ in Advanced Engineering Manufacturing and a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. The company puts on a number of training courses for us to attend such as, team building and communication exercises at Skern Lodge, Wellbeing Awareness training and Ladder training. I have learnt a huge amount during my time on this apprenticeship program, ranging from;, machining skills to pneumatics and hydraulics to electrical.
The company has a relaxed but structured working environment which gives me the flexibility to complete my work to a high standard. I enjoy working with all my peers and everyone is treated equally.
I feel valued by the company and get recognition from my manager and lecturers for achieving a good standard of work during my apprenticeship. There is always oppotunities to get involved with tasks and projects and make a valuable contribution.
The apprenticeship is very well structured with set plans on when tasks should be completed by with regualrly scheduled reviews with our course co-ordinator to review the progress we have made and to set objectives for future reviews. We have a weekly scheduled meeting with our manager to dicuss any issues or queries that we may have.

If we have any issue with anything whether that be at college, work or at home, the company will provide any support we need.
This apprenticehip has one of the highest salaries, compared to other apprenticeship programs available, therefore, it more than covers my living, travel, daily and social costs.
There are many opportunities available to me whilst being on this apprenticeship. There is opportunities to attended team building trips such as Skern Lodge and Mountain Challenge events. There is also opportunities to run open evenings at local colleges and talk to students interested in the apprenticeship.

It is an exciting and enjoyable place to work with alot of opportunties to develop as a person and as an engineer.
When applying for the apprenticeship it is desirable to have some engineering related experience/qualifications. During the interview process, it is important to be confident and present yourself well, demonstrating your knowledge in a clear and concise way. When applying for this apprenticeship it is important to understand that it will take a lot of hard work and dedication to complete the full 4 years. But like with anything in life, hard work = good results.
