I am a business admin apprentice and this includes tasks such as updating team boards, creating powerpoints for team meetings on a weekly basis, being responsible for filing hard and soft information and also being in charge of my own projects such as raising PO's for our department.
I have become much more confident since starting my role and feel as though I have learnt a lot about a business environment even though I have only been in one for 3 months. I feel that I can talk to people who I do not know much more confidently and I am now also able to speak publicly without having a lot of nerves.
I really enjoy the working environment as everyone has been incredibly kind and helpful, for example i have been trained by my departments team members and thye have been very patient with me as i am learning new systems and about the company.
I feel very valued as you are incredibly well-looked after at Cummins by everyone. Everytime you pass someone on the shop floor hey always smile and say hello which is really nice to have on a day to day basis especially if you feel the day has been a long one or a difficult day of work.
Everyhting has been made clear to me about the programme that i will be starting such as dates that i will be working with a tutor, the possibility of me going to the college itself to learn or doing it at the cummins plant and also my course specification has been made very clear to me by my manager, team members, HR and also the college that i will be learning my course with. I have been made aware of all the support that is offered and it gives me a good feeling that i will be able to achieve my goals.
My tutor is avalable 24/7 as i can contact her if i have any queries or difficulties with my learning. I am yet to start my college work but i am aware that when i have i can even go to the college if i need to so that i can get the help from a tutor.
My employer has beene extremely helpful so far ensuring that i am feeling fine and always having enough work to complete. They have also made sure that i am being given the correct training from our team so that i can be fully competent in my job role. The HR team have set up multiple apprentice team meetings which gives me the chnace to meet new people and have friends in the work environment which has been very helpful to settle in to the working environment.
My salary was significantly higher than what i was expecting the role to pay which is a massive bonus and motive to work hard and impress. I am allowed to pay for all my daily and monthly costs and have enbough to save at the end of the month.
Yes, there are many opportunities given by cummins to employees through a scheme called EEEC. This is where employees give back to the community through various activities such as working at a food bank, farming or attending school activities to help educate possible future employees.
