My role is the same as store assistant. Greeting customers and providing great customer service, restocking the store and mainting stock and back stock levels, opening and closing the store, being responsible for processing cash and card payments.
I've learnt and developed my customer service skills while I've been with Aldi. I'm more confident in making decisions in the work place.
I enjoyed the insight knowledge that the apprenticeship provided like going to visiting one of Aldi distribution centre in Atherstone. This is something I really enjoyed and that my colleagues will never get to experience.
Even though I have the lowest ranking position within my store I still feel valued as a team member.
The programme is quite well structured but it is sometimes hard to balance Apprenticeship course work along side a full time position at Aldi.
My training provider gave me any support needed but of course she had a high number of students to provide support to making it hard to maintain the Apprenticeship sometimes.
My employer is very understanding and has provided me with any advice that I have needed.
My salary has unfortunately not met my costs in life. The wage/package is very low for somebody that is 20 years of age. I have not been able to financially support myself but I believe if I was younger (16-17) the wage would be suitable.
I know with this qualification that I could definitely move into other job roles with other retail companies.
Yes
Aldi are a fantastic company to work for that looks after their employees as much as possible.
Don't apply for the Apprenticeship if your over the age of 18 due to the much lower wage you will receive then store assistants even though you are effectively doing the same work if not more.
