My jole role is Engineering Technician Apprentice. It involves reporting to the placement manager and support the production in reduction daily production issues. This could range from completing excel report files to spending time on shop floor with production process leader
I have developed good communication and time management skills. In this job, you may be a part of project team or can run a project on your own so communication and time management skills are important along with assessing risk factors as well.
I enjoyed working as a team as well as alone in a project. I felt welcomed a part of team .
BMW Group is a great company to work for. Not only you get handsome salary compared to other apprenticeship but also you can take part in company car scheme. Also the company pays for your education rising upto degree level.
The programme is well organised. YOu spent 3-5 months in different departments to gain knowledge and insight into what goes on and how each department works to support production.
We get a review every 3 months where we discuss what we can achieve, any concern etc. This helps the training provider to provide educational support in case we are lacking in certain subjects.
Every 6 months there is a performance review where your training advisor provides you the feedback based on the placements you have completed and can discuss the plan for the next 6 months.
The salary is quite handsome compared to other apprenticeship. Plus a good pension scheme. Also you cantake part in company car scheme.
Yes, when you complete the apprenticeship, you are immediately hired by BMW (unless you dont meet the standard set). There are opportunities outside BMW as well where some apprentices have joined other multi national comapanies after completion of apprenticeship.
