  • Within the apprenticeship I have already learnt various things about the business itself, option codes, model codes, as well as this I have learnt and developed a lot of skills within the college environment such as motor vehicle assembly and disassembly, electronic product creation, fault finding techniques, soldering all of these things have been very beneficial and have aided in improving my existing skills within these fields

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the apprenticeship programme and have found the first few months very beneficial to my life, learning skills that have enabled me to progress, working within the working environment is a pleasurable experience and find it great to work within a team inside the plant as well as the team we have built at college has made the transition into the company as smooth and enjoyable as possible

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BMW Group?
  • within the BMW group and my working team I feel fairly valued, it is difficult to truly say, with the fact i am full time at college I don’t think that there has been an opportunity for me to show my full potential or be praised for any work that has been done. the small amount of time I have spent it in the working environment I have not always felt useful but when I am actually able to participate in a task or are given one I feel I am helping the team out

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • During the apprenticeships induction faze it was great to feel so welcomed and a part of the business, first few weeks of the apprenticeship scheme the organisation and structure within the college environment was a little lacking and at times felt a bit lost and unsure of its direction, but maintained faith that it would eventually sort its self out this was exactly the case and before long we were getting stuck into assignments, practical tasks and guided learning, most of the lecturers and staff we have had the pleasure of being taught by have been very supportive, helpful and willing to go the extra mile for us as a team, with meetings involving college representives and work managers.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • within the college environment there are a large amount of lecturers that are more than willing to put in extra time if need be as well as the time spent in class, most of the staff are very supportive and give regular feedback on how you are doing, what you are doing well and how you can improve on what you already have, One lecturer in particular is less than helpful often giving long winded and sometimes even off topic responses to simple questions that require a lengthy readings of various standards, this is frustrating when we are under tight time constraints set by him.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • through being full time at college it is a difficult question to answer but from the support I’ve needed from my employer I’m not sure I could ask for much more support from my employer, very quick correspondence between HR and Manager have meant that it is very easy to access anything that I’ve needed, from my experience the business have been more than happy to support in any way that I’ve required.
