Assembly Apprentice, Installation of Wiring Harness in the RL section of the vehicle, I attach the under seat speaker, air duct and partial door card on the left side of the car. There are also numerous brackets and cable ties that i have the responsibility of attaching.
I have learned lots of things about: bench fitting, turning, welding, milling, automotive technical skills and electronics when we have been at college, however, inside of work I have learned about the business itself and certain job roles i have had the opportunity to partake in.
I enjoy the programme i am a part of a lot, my team and the people i work with on a daily basis are friendly and great to spend time with. The company culture is great, we have been given opportunities to progress within the workplace. It has met my expectations greatly.
When I come into the workplace I feel very valued and that i am an important part of the team whenever we are undertaking tasks. Within college I feel valued by a majority of my lecturers and the people around me. If i have been successful and achieved anything within or outside the workplace, that is relevant for our course i feel that i am appreciated and valued for it.
When we have been present within the workplace i feel as though our programme has been organised well and is structures correctly to help us to learn/ understand what it is we are partaking in. Within the college, however, there have been a few times where our course has not been organised effectively and this has caused issues of miscommunication and misunderstanding for both us and our assessors.
I have felt that I have been given the necessary help and support whenever i have required on most occasions, however, there has been a few times where a tutor/ lecturer has had a more distant approach to supporting us, if there are certain things that i do not understand fully they will give a weak, non-constructive and sometimes misleading answer which doesn't help me to get any closer to understanding the task or goal they have set.
I have been given a large amount of support from my employer whenever it has been requested, in terms of helping me through problems that I've had with certain transport issues etc. They have always responded quickly to email queries and concerns that me or any of my colleagues have had, this support is easy to access and their attitude has always been a great help.
I think that my salary covers all of my general costs as i have never felt restricted by my income and i have always been able to save on top of my overall costs per month. Although i am not currently under any financial pressure in terms of mortgages, credit cards etc. but my salary comfortably covers my living cost.
Currently I have not been given many opportunities outside of work as we spend a considerable amount of time at college but I have been given the opportunity to attend certain workplace events such as Christmas do's etc.
Yes
The company is very friendly and supportive, it has given me many opportunities and has allowed me to progress a person both intellectually and characteristically as i have learned many things from my training provider and i have grown to be more comfortable around new people in and out of the workplace.
Tips that i would give someone going through the interviewing process would be to make sure that you are confident and talkative as well as being inquisitive because it shows that you are interested in the company and that you want to know more and gain a deeper understanding of the company. Id advise people to take every opportunity they can as it will help you experience new things and become better at your job.
