On a day to day basis at the moment I am in the bespoke workshop which means I will be carrying out a variety of different tasks and projects. which will include problem solving to overcome a project.
I have definately developed skills on problem solving and the way I think about a job. I now have a sequence to the way i go about things in the workplace which is more time efficient and prodcutive.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship, which is good. I am learning new skills everyday which is why I'm enjoying it so much. Also meeting new people at the same time is good.
I do feel valued by Rolls Royce as a company as they do put a lot of effort into us apprentices. There are sometimes where I feel we're used as just another employee in that department but that's when it's been really busy.
Most of the areas I have been in, they know I am coming and have prepared work for me to do. There has been some areas where they don't know I am meant to be starting there so there isn't the correct equipment for me to do that job. Apart from this though the programme is structured well.
The college gives us a lot og support and training and I feel as though I am learning a lot in the furniture field. I am also translating that knowledge over to the workplace.
The HR team is really good at work and very supportive, and are always helpful with enquiries. The managers are always open to listening to us and help us with problems too.
This job pays well for an apprenticeship scheme compared to most companies which is really good. So I'd say the salary is good compared to my costs.
As far as I'm aware there are oppurtunities outside of work which I hear about through the coorprate comms but I have a very busy schedule so cannot attend.
