This is the final year of my school leaver programme. My role for the final year involves being the main contact for clients and acting as the lead senior. This role involves speaking to clients and being the main contact for clients needs. This also involves delivering pieces of work with a deadline and to a high quality. The role also gives the opportunity to manage people below my rank as well as report into people more senior than myself. Within my role as a senior I am also given the opportunity to review pieces of work.
I have now completed by ACA qualification and are learning many on the job skill and training courses in relation to accounting. My excel skills have also improved during the course of my training.
The program gives you the opportunity to work with lots of new people and work in teams which is something that i enjoy. I often meet new people every week and again this is something that i enjoy and makes me want to stay at EY. Everyone is very friendly and wants to help you as much as possible.
Managers are very complimentary of my work and therefore i feel valued at EY. The support i am given makes me feel valued and when i deliver a good piece of work in the time frame given i feel valued by the praise i receive.
There is a clear structure in terms of the hierarchy and this is always well communicated and known throughout every engagement that is being worked on. We ensure as a company that the more junior members of the team are always aware of the work that requires completing.
EY use Kaplan as their training provider and the support received in regards to this is excellent. They are able to stay behind after college if required to make sure that you understand a certain topic if needed.
EY give employees time off to take exams and study. Each employee is also given a councellor who can help with any problems or queries that they might have this can be huge support when you are stuck or facing a problem.
The salary covers my living costs and travel costs. We receive a bonus if the company does well. Overall however we could receive more money if we worked in industry.
Often there are friday drinks, or events taking place outside of work to get involved in and network with other employees.
