My current role is equal to a deputy manager in Aldi. This involves many different jobs on a day to day basis such as: Serving customers on the tills Working deliveries of stock Running the shop floor- managing staff and order of the shop Ensuring all paperwork for that day is completed Ordering stock Efficiently running the store overall
Aldi has taught a wide range of skills. Numeracy, communication, merchandising (special buys), computing skills and organisation skills.
I enjoy my programme as each day is different to the other, there is always a job to be completed. It has also improved my basic skills, gave me new skills and improved confidence in customer service
fairy valued, it can be stressful to work in most times but that’s what is expected. It comes down to your attitude and others in your store.
My programme has not been the best organised with the college side as I have had 2 different companies during and no tutor for most of my second year. Aldi store have been good with helping me & organising my work.
Both training providers have been good with support. Although there was a gap invetween now that they are sorted they have been extremely helpful.
I receive a lot from my store manager with my apprenticeship work for I store experience and actual written work. It is important to put in for help in advance before its due in, and to ask for help when it’s needed.
The wage bracket is very good for an apprenticeship programme, as a young adult it’s not the best pay to live off for expenses such as rent, a car etc but overall worth it for when you qualify.
There are not many social opportunities and night outs are rare because of it being shift patterns. It is not impossible, there is also courses such as first aid & alcohol license that you are put on.
Yes
Overall it is a good apprenticeship programme with Aldi. It takes time over the 3 years but flies in because each day is different.
Don’t apply if you want a Monday-Friday 9/5 because it won’t happen, must be outgoing & positive about the work to be able to do it. Nothing is hard until you learn it, if you put in the effort it’s worth it.
