I am an apprentice manager. So this involves day to day running of the store, working delievries to completing paperwork. Customer service and managing people.
I have learnt many new skills throughout my 3 years experience and improved upon existing skills. Proving to myself I am capable of things I didn't think I was.
For the first half of my apprenticeship, I truly did enjoy it. I felt like an important part of the team and enjoyed learning new things. I thrive with a challenge. However as things progressed, I don't feel I was given the correct opportunities to learn and grow. Things changed and no one really cared what happened.
I do not feel valued by aldi. Due to management changes, and many other including factors. I have been treated in ways that are not acceptable and not looked after in the ways I would expect from such a business. There is no one to turn to and quite often am made to feel like I have to watch my back. I was made to feel like a burden.
The college side of the work was well structured, I was kept on track and completed my qualification with no worries. However the in store/on the job training was poor at times, not being given the opportunities to learn but having to complete the paperwork to say I had. An in store mentor or someone specific to structure and help with this would have made a huge difference.
My training provider from the college side of things was great, she was kind and attentive and willing to answer any questions and help every step of the way. She was a great help in me achieveing my qualification.
Next to none. I found the lack of support very difficult for me to thrive and achieve my best potential. I have not felt looked out for or supported in a long time.
The salary is better than most places, but for the job we do I feel it is not enough. I struggle to pay my bills every month. Always living pay cheque to pay cheque. Considering how hard apprentices within aldi work, the pay does not reflect that.
Not that I know of.
No
My personal experience of aldi has not been a nice one. I love my job and always have, but the environment I am made to work in, the lack of support/care, the mistreatment and the physical issues and mental stress are sometimes not worth it for most people. I wouldn't wish my personal experience for anyone no.
Know what you're getting into.
