I was a part of the retail marketing team and throughout my week at M&G I met a variety of different staff members from interns to the head of distribution. I also participated in sessions with the other students doing work experience for example a careers workshop and city orientation walk which I particularly enjoyed.
I have learnt what a working environment is like ,I have definitely developed my communication skills and confidence which were unknown strengths of mine which I discovered this week.
I enjoyed it very much as everyone was extremely friendly ,I particularly liked the independence I had on a day-to-day basis as I felt this was crucial in developing my professional profile as it provided me with a chance to display and strengthen my organisation skills.
I felt that my managers actually cared about my well -being and I felt extremely valued by everyone in the long term talent team and even other employees that I had met during the week.
It was very well organised we where provided with calendars which helped us schedule our days, there was an outlook programme in which we could keep in contact with employees which we had planned to meet during the week ,also I knew exactly when sessions would be starting and ending, everything was very specific and given in great detail. However maybe I would have like more delegated tasks to complete throughout my day as there were days where I had a lot of free time .
They had a great attitude ,they would always support me and check on me to see how things are going , particularly my presentation at the end of the week which I received a lot of help with .Any questions I didn't feel nervous to ask them, they made me feel at ease and very comfortable throughout the week.
If there are any problems you could easily contact one of the team and they would be happy to help, they genuinely cared for the welfare of the students.
Money for transport is reimbursed and lunch is paid for which is great.
Yes ,the sessions with the other students were great, we also learnt about apprenticeships that M&G provide and options for school leavers which was great and extremely helpful as a I was previously unaware of these opportunities.
Yes
It is a great experience and everyone is kind and friendly ,it is a lovely working environment.
Go for it, ask questions ,don't be nervous and relax it'll be fine ,everyone's nice and friendly.
