I had to work on a presentation which I presented on the last day. I spent a lot of time on that. I also spent time on virtual learning sessions, which was about business writing, presentation skills, resilience, and building connections. I sat in on a few meetings, and I was given some work to do by my buddy that the team would do, which I was given lots of help with.
I have learnt many new skills. I have learnt skills about business writing such as not overcomplicating things, resilience which is about self-awareness, making connections, and presentation skills such as only having one core message. I also developed my social skills, and I have learnt a lot about what the job entails.
I thoroughly enjoyed the programme. Everyone was very helpful, and they made sure I always had work to do, and they answered any questions that I had. I found the programme very informative and useful, and everyone made sure I enjoyed my time there. Overall it was a very good work experience which I would recommend.
I felt very valued by EY. At the start, I was introduced to everyone, and everyone gave me a warm welcome. I had a buddy, which I could go to if I had any questions, and she would always make sure I had work to do and that I knew what I was doing. I also had a counsellor who would make sure I was doing okay, and helped me to set goals throughout my time.
The programme was very well organised. I always had work to do, and I always had someone to go to if I was unsure of anything. I was given enough time to work on my presentation, and it was made clear when deadlines were, and when I had meetings or any other things to do. I was also given time to do the virtual learning, which I learnt a lot from.
I was given a lot of support throughout my time here. I was given a buddy, who made sure I always had tasks to do, and made sure I always understood what I was doing. When I first joined, my buddy took me around the office and introduced me to everyone. I also have a counsellor, who helped me to set goals to get the most out of my time at EY.
I received a lot of support. Managers always made sure to pass down work to me, and they let me attend me attend meetings, which helped me get a feel for the job. They were also very kind and approachable, and made sure I was not worried about doing my presentation, which was an initial worry.
It was a one weeks work experience, so when I initially applied I wasn't expecting to get paid at all. However I did get paid, which I thought was a good amount. The pay was just a bonus though, as I was mainly there for the experience, which was very good. I was also taken out for lunch a few days, which helped with food costs.
There is an opportunity to be contacted for the school leavers programme. This will fast track you straight to the final interview, so that you do not need to reapply. EY do a lot of charity work as well, and there seems to be many opportunities to do things outside of work. I was given opportunities to go out for lunches, which I would recommend going to as its a good way to socialise.
Yes
I would recommend it as you learn a lot in one week. Everyone is very kind and helpful, and make sure to include you in what they are doing. I learnt a lot about the job, and what I would be doing if I was to join the school leaver programme. I also found it helped me to develop my social skills, and helped me learn many new skills such as business writing skills. It is a very useful work experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The application process was fairly straightforward. I had a telephone interview, which lasted around 10 minutes and I was asked a few questions and to give examples. On the first day, the induction contains some information that doesn't apply to business academy students, so that would have been good to know before hand. My advice would be to be prepared to actually do work, and not just shadow someone, and to take every opportunity you get.
