I was a Trainee Assistant Manager with GreeneKing. My role was to assist with the day to day running of the business. completing daily task set by the company, cash handling, leading and supporting team players and ensuring company standards are met.
Through this process I've learnt not just to look inwards at out business but also everything that goes on around us and how it affects us. From the weather, time of year to politics it all affects the business. Ive also learnt different ways of reponding to different situation and alot more.
Finding new ways to do things, having the backing of the people around me i.e. my Manager, the team and most of all Nikki my assessor. I love her caring but no nonesese attitude towards her students.
On the grand scale of things they are trying to provide a great place to work where anyone has an oppertunity to progress and make a career for themselves. Unfortunately the culture of most business is get as much as you can done with the smallest of labour budget and what effects it has on team players is over looked. More care needs to ber taken for the well being of team players because they do a fantastic job for what they get paid.
Everything worked really well. It was explained to me how the whole program would run and what was expected of me regarding attendance and completing assignments on time and turning up to meeting. There were alot of support provided by assessors and direction to where I might find the information I needed. Assesors always try to be flexible to where we would meet which was great if it was my day off as live in different city to job in the last part of my course.
They were always on hand to answer any questions i might have or point me in the direction to find. They were very motivating and it shows they really wanted to help and genuinely care about thier studends.
My manager was my mentor and she gave me all the support I needed. She was very understanding if I needed the time to catch up if i was falling behind. She pushed and motivate me to be the best I could be.
unfortunately because of the distance i live and time i finished work on certain nights it was not feesable for me to carry on at the same location. It is in my opinion that a review of the salary/rates of pay be looked at in the company has the attitude of team members now is that they will only do the work they get paid for. Unfortunately this is having a massive impact on how much effort a team member put in and the genuine enjoyment of our customers.
I do believe there is but there is not great communication about it as Managers tend not to have the time to relate it to thier teams. Alot more could be done.
Yes
I would only recommend it because of the career oppertunities it has and the experienced to be gained from working there. On the point of job satisfaction and wages no.
When i first started everything was explained to me of how the business worked and what was expected of me. The application process is very simple in most cases/positons. I do think the application process is great and very straight forward but the only thing i would like changing is more of a training budget put asside that does not affect labour for the rest of the team. Because its the same labour not enough 1 to 1 time is spent with new starters to make sure they learn what they need to in a timely manner.
