My role was as a work experience student for a week. Usually, the first half of the day consisted of talks from various individuals and in the afternoon, we were sent to a department and spent time doing work on the laptop.
I have learnt what a trainee solicitors day entails and also how the departments vary.
I enjoyed the programme. The employees which I encountered were friendly and approachable, especially my supervisors.
I felt reasonably valued by Pinsent Masons. The tasks I completed were marked and I was usually given feedback on my work.
For me, the structure of the programme was not what I expected. I thought there would be more group activities instead of working alone foe the second half of the day.
I believe I received a good amount of support. My tasks were usually sent by email and included a description of what the task involved. I appreciate that the supervisors had their own work to complete and therefore tasks were not always available.
My supervisor was always willing to help when required and understood that I was unfamiliar with the law terminology.
Not applicable as I was not paid during the programme.
Not applicable as I was only present for a week therefore there was not enough time to be involved in wider activities.
Yes
I believe it shows to universities and employers that you have a proactive approach and evidently an interest in law.
The application process was quite time consuming however I understand that this may be necessary due to how competitive the placements are.
