For the first two weeks in was a 'classroom session' where we learnt about team leading, coaching and feedback; all the while incorporating presentation skills. For the final week we were based with clients, where we were given an insight into the world of work.
Being on the programme, I have gained a CMI level 2 qualification (equivalent of a GCSE). I have improved my presentation skills and I feel that I am more confident when networking.
I think that the most enjoyable aspect of the programme is the people. The people have shaped me and taught me a lot. The fellow students and EY employees were very helpful which has led to me enjoying the programme a lot. I also love the freedom that EY gives you- very different to a school's atmosphere.
I feel that EY sees me as an investment. I feel really valued because of the amount of support they have given me. From the connections I have made to the skills that I have gained, I feel that this experience has been a highlight of my life so far.
I think that it is well structured- they have given a schedule before the start of the programme to tell us what we are doing each day. There is a clear plan during the day and we are given sufficient time to complete a learning log and make other notes.
I have received a lot of support from my mentor and 'buddy' during my time at EY. The information has been really helpful, and will benefit me in further education and my future career. The mentor goes out of their way to help you succeed.
The people at EY have been superb at supporting the students. They make sure that we have the necessary resources to complete the tasks set and make sure we understand what we are doing.
The salary is a unique aspect of the programme- many companies do not pay the students who are on work experience. Being in based in London, naturally the prices for food and travel are going to be high, but I think that the salary if sufficient to help cover these costs.
There are a series of alumni events that EY provides once the programme is completed.
Yes
The programme gives you the necessary skills for the world of work. The people also are really supportive and you can really learn a lot from them.
Go for it! The programme will be a great experience. When on the programme, complete your learning log as soon as possible. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions- the people are very friendly and are willing to give support that you require.
