As this was a work experience programme, it was very orgainsed and there were many activities scheduled each day. Usually, we would start the morning off all together doing certain tasks or attending presentations. After lunch we go to our assigned departments (which changed most days) and complete whatever work our supervisor had delegated to us.
I would say this experience has improved my confidence through taking part in mock trials and being comfortable enough to volunteer opinions. The people at Pinsent Masons are always asking you question and are always genuinely interested to hear about your journey. Whether you are at school, university, or higher levels.
I had a wonderful time during this programme. I met some new friends and really appreciated the time and effort employees put not only into their work but also into their colleagues. I learnt a lot of new things about Commercial Law and now, have a basic understanding of what it's all about. Something I did not have before.
My supervisor was great throughout everything. He provided me with thought-provoking, interesting tasks and always made sure I had the correct resources to complete them. Afterwards, he would take the time to go over my findings, explain what I didn't understand and then give me feedback on how well I did. He took an interest in my law journey and it was very useful to hear his experience and advice.
The programme is very structured and there is never a moment when you are not busy. From group exercises to chats with trainees, the programme is very will designed and executed. This is by far the most useful work experience week I have participated in and would highly recommend it for anyone interested in law.

As this was a work experience week, there was no salary involved. It was purely for the experience. I would recommend this to anyone interested in law and/or business itself. The programme being so structured really helps in providing an insight into what a typical day/week in the office really looks like. The staff are very including and will find any opportunity to include you in similar work they do which is very useful in seeing what your future could look like. I think the people have made the biggest difference from my fellow students to other employees. Each and everyone always made an effort to see how you were doing and would always say hi whether at the printer room, kitchen or even in the halls.
From what I understand, there are many opportunities out of work. The staff seem very close and are always interested in each other's life outside of the office. Don't be nervous or shy. As soon as you walk through the doors, you feel valued and part of the team. Everyone encourages you to ask questions and your opinion is truly taken on board. Also, have a genuine interest in law. It's a great opportunity to see what your life could look like in a few years therefore use the opportunity to its full potential. Volunteer to speak, ask trainees questions about their journey. Everyone will always take time out to help you with whatever you need.
