I am a Networks Degree Apprentice at BT and my role includes integrating our core network of routers across the UK. My daily tasks include speaking to engineers on the phone and making appropriate changes to the network to bring new equipment and products into service. I work with a wide range of different people who support apprentices amazingly treating them as any other employee. Other opportunities are also avaliable and for example, I am London’s Apprentice Attraction Lead and I visit local schools and events to talk about apprenticeships and what we do at BT.
I have been able to develop fantastic technology troubleshooting skills and also people skills, especially when thrown into a new environment and community of people. I have also learnt that at a company like BT, everyone is happy to help, no matter what the request. I am looking forward to completing my degree, studying a BSc in Digital & Technology Solutions at Ravensbourne University London.
I enjoy going into work everyday, meeting new people, developing new partnerships and trying to have an impact on the work that we do at BT. Being personal, simple and brilliant everyday!
I feel valued by my team but also higher management who keep us up to date on developments across the country and offer unique opportunities to visit different sites to see different work that happens across the business.
The programme is laid out really well where university is planned for the next 3.5 years and your line manager gives you challenging yeah achievable targets each month.
My tutor at Univerisy is very supportive and will always answer any questions at any time that we may have them. We feel like looked after by the uni and treated just the same as full time students.
My employer is very supportive and my line manager always has our happiness at the forefront of his mind. I am very lucky to work for a company that looks after there employees so well and alows them to work flexibly at any time.
My salary meets my costs well and I also have to consider the added charge per month that my employer pays for me to study at university. Due to this, I have a very competitive salary.
There are many opportunities outside of work to being a Apprentice leader, volunteers or recruit the next generation of apprentices. Managers are always happy for us to get involved with these opportunities.
Yes
As the competitive salary, unique opportunity and fantastic level of support is unlike any other employer I have met.
Give it your best shot and research the company well. Relate yourself and your ambitions to the values of the company and always show how passionate and interested you are to work for BT
